Andrew Forrest, DMD, MS:is a specialist in Periodontics with an emphasis on Guided Tissue Regeneration,
Periodontal Plastic Surgery, and Dental Implantology. He attended Florida State University where he
studied Biochemistry. He graduated from Nova Southeastern University, College of Dental Medicine.
His research on the interdisciplinary management of Cancer Treatment, Irradiation Therapy, and Implantology
was completed at the University of Miami in 2001. This research awarded him the Straumann ITI Implant
Dentistry Scholarship Award. While attending Dental School, Dr. Forrest completed two Periodontics
externships, the first at New York University and the later at Harvard University. He completed his
externship in Anesthesiology at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Forrest completed
his three year specialty training in Periodontics and Implant Surgery at the University of Florida,
Shands Hospital. During that time, he also completed his Master Degree with a focus on Oral
Immunology. Dr. Forrest has been practicing in Jacksonville since 2003. His heritage in the
dental profession spans three generations.
Presently, Dr. Forrest has a teaching appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the
Department of Periodontics at the University of Florida. The focus of his practice centers upon
the surgical reconstruction of supporting tissues for the preservation of teeth and Dental
Implantology. To date, Dr. Forrest has placed and restored more than a 3,000 dental implants.
He lectures to other dentists on how dental implants can improve a patient’s quality of life
cosmetically and functionally. Currently, he is a member of the American Dental Association,
Florida Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Florida Society of Dental
Anesthesiology, Florida Association of Periodontists, and the Memorial Hospital Dental Study Club.
Brock Philips, DMD: is a second generation Jacksonville native. After graduating from Wolfson High School,
Dr. Philips attended the University of Florida, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Zoology. Since the
age of 6, Dr. Philips knew he wanted to be a dentist, and was able to meet that goal by attending the
University of Florida College of Dentistry, graduating in 1996.
Since returning to Jacksonville, Dr. Philips has been in private practice as a general dentist, joining the team at David and Associates in 2003.
Jila Mahajan, DDS is a native of England. She earned her doctor of dental surgery degree from
Columbia University in June 1990,receiving distinguished honors and awards. She completed her
residency and received her certificate in pediatric dentistry from the Medical College of Virginia.
Her advance training included medically compromised children, oral and IV sedation, general
anesthesia, and interceptive orthodontics. Soon after graduating she became an associate
professor at Medical College of Virginia.
Dr. Mahajan entered in private practice in Jacksonville, Fl in 2000. She is an active member
of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Clay county Dental society
and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Kary Marris, DMD received her undergraduate education at the University of Central Florida, where
she graduated cum laude with a B.S. in microbiology and molecular biology. Her dental education was
completed at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. She graduated from dental school with
academic and research honors. She continued her training in orthodontics at the University of Florida,
where she served as Chief Resident in her tinal year and graduated with a certificate in orthodontics
and M.S in oral biology.
Dr. Marris is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Florida
Dental Association, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Florida Association of Orthodontists and the
Cenlral District Dental Association of Florida. Dr. Marris lives in East Orlando with her husband, two
sons and dog. When not spending time with patients, she enjoys spending time with'her family, reading
and traveling.
